Since I'm a youngin' I'd like to hear some suggestions for what classic or older horror movies that I absolutely must see. What are some that y'all like?

Oh, wow! There are so many that I LOVE, but this little clawful comes instantly to mind:
The Curse of the Demon 1957
The Bride of Frankenstein 1935
The Cat People 1942
Rosemary's Baby 1968
ANY of Alfred Hitchcock's films, especially Psycho 1960 and The Birds 1963
Some others that were made a little more recently that I enjoy:
Hallowe'en 1978
The Evil Dead 1982
The Shining 1980
Silence of the Lambs 1991
Ummmm, there are many others, but I think that these are some of my "must-see" choices-from at least fifteen years ago, which is what I'll use as a cut-off time period for use of the term "classic".

Don't forget The Exorcist (1973), Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), Jaws (1975), The Phantom of the Opera (1925), and The Haunting (1963).

Those are great choices, Tye-I just kinda figured she'd probably seen The Exorcist , Jaws, and the only two good Alien films. The same goes for George Romero's films, just figured she'd seen them, but perhaps not. How could I have forgotten to include the original version of The Haunting, though?
Shame on me.

I figured that, but just thought I'd throw them out there just in case.

Here's a couple that I think are pretty good:
The Changeling (1980)
Ghost Story (1981)
The Mummy (1932)
Frankestein (1931)
The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971)
An American Werewolf in London (1981)

I love those old horror movies. Here are some more that I love:
The Body Snatcher (1945) with Boris Karloff (great, great movie)
The Wolfman (1941)
The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)
King Kong (1933)
Werewolf of London (1935)
White Zombie (1932)
The Invisible Man (1933)
If you get a chance, see the TV Miniseries Salem's Lot (1979). I still get chills watching it (flashbacks from watching it when I was a kid).

Okay...this will probably be my ONLY post in the Horror Films forums...I'm not a big horror film fan. There. I've said it. Dunno why...Rob laughs at me a lot for that one. That being said, I agree with the classics mentioned:
Psycho (but I was a film major and I think an appreciation of Hitchcock is mandatory http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif )
The Shining
Carrie
and the 1922 classic Nosferatu with Max Schreck (great name) creeps me out.
I was like 9 when I accidentally flipped the channel to HBO while they were showing The Omen...just in time to see the guy get decapitated...haven't bothered to rent that one!
Of course, I'm not sure Psycho really counts as a horror flick...it's more along the lines of a thriller...which I absolutely LOVE. Oh yeah...a good mind **** now and then!

Okay. Yeah I have seen some of those, at least the more well known ones: The Shining, Carrie, The Creature from the Black Lagoon (actually does it count if I saw it on Mystery Science Theater 3000? Did anyone else ever watch that?), The Exorcist, Night of Living Dead...and so on, but there were a lot of great suggestions. I need to watch more horror movies. I hated them until I was like 15 so I have a lot of catching up to do. I've made some progress in the past couple years but I have a long way to go.

Hoohahahaheeheheheheehoheh! You just reminded me of the name of Doctor Phibes' love-interest in both of the Dr. Phibes films. For some reason that flies in the face of reason, it always cracks me up.
Say it loud, say it proud:
"Vulnavia!"
I love Vincent Price in anything, from the original The Fly , The Tingler, all of the Roger Corman stuff (like The Masque of the Red Death and The Raven)-right up to Edward Scissorhands. He was a class act.

Why doesn't anyone suggest the great Freddie Krueger movies, Nightmare on Elm Street? I loved at least the first couple. I was so freaked out when I was a young one watching them at my friends’ house!
I am disapointed in you guys for not even mentioning these gyms. http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif But Scaredycat has probably already seen them.

After just one workout at the Freddy Krueger "gym" I was like, totally ripped.
To shreds, that is.
